Jewellery care guide

Every piece of jewellery requires some love and care after purchase as Many factors can influence the condition of jewellery.  Here is a guide with some tips on how to best care for your pieces and how keep them looking brand new.

Metals

Silver

Silver jewellery can tarnish over time, especially if not worn often. To remove and minimise any tarnish, we recommend using a soft lint free cloth or use a silver polish to clean sterling silver pieces to keep them looking shiny and lustrous.

Most people say the best way to keep your Silver pieces looking bright is simply to wear them as much as possible!

Rose and gold plated

Gold-plated jewellery can be easily cleaned by gently rubbing the surface of your gold-plated jewellery using a soft jewellery cloth, helps restore shine or soak it in warm mild soapy water if it needs more cleaning. Soak it for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly and use a soft cloth to dry it.

Do NOT* use a polishing cloth as this will strip away the plating.

Gemstones and pearls

Coloured Gemstones (Cubic zirconia)

Coloured gemstones should be treated like diamonds. Wipe your gemstone jewellery with a soft cloth (can be dampened with mild soapy water or it can be dry) to get rid of any dirt accumulation. Allow the gemstones to air dry before storing in a soft pouch.

Pearls

Pearls only require a dry cloth to keep them clean and should never come in contact with any chemicals.

Tips & recommendations

  • We advise you to invest in a jewellery polishing cloth and always wipe down your jewellery pieces after wearing them.
  • We advise you to remove your jewellery before taking a shower, bath or swimming as water and humidity are the causes for oxidisation and tarnishing. Chlorines and other substances may tarnish and damage precious metals and erode gemstones.
  • Avoid putting on cream or spraying perfume when wearing jewellery. Also, keep in mind when you put oils or perfume being your ears where it may come into contact with earrings.
  • Remove your jewellery when exercising so you do not damage or break it.
  • We recommend you to remove your jewellery before going to sleep to avoid it being knocked and damaged in the night or becoming tangled.
  • You should always store your jewellery in a protective box or soft pouch as it will prevent your jewellery from any tarnishing, chipping or becoming tangled with your other jewellery.
  • Always keep your jewellery in a safe, dry place.

HOWEVER, what is most important is for you to enjoy wearing the jewellery and try not to stress too much as most things can be easily cleaned.
