One Starry Night… The nights are getting darker, winter is certainly here! But with those long nights come the stars, so what better time to shine a spotlight on one of our latest collections. Introduction Orbis London, our Zodiac Glamour. We were lucky enough to have a chat to founder of Orbis Gibran Awan and have a 60 second interview with him about his collection. Hi Gibran, thanks for taking the time to speak with us. Can you tell us first what your inspiration for Orbis was? To begin with I was looking for a nice birthday present for my sister. I wanted something nice that was cute and personalised. I hit upon the idea of something to do with her star sign, when I tried to buy her something the only things out there were really expensive and way out of the budget of a young professional. It stuck with me, and I started to play around with the idea of designing a range of jewellery around star signs. Would you say that your sister is your inspiration for the collection then? Both my sisters are far more than my inspiration, they were on board from day one helping with design and refining looks. They showed all the necklaces to their friends and helped me get the final pieces perfect. Orbis really is a family affair! What’s been the biggest lesson for you in your Orbis journey? Honestly, it’s just how complicated things are, you assume you make a nice piece of jewellery and then sell it but there is so much involved in running a business, design, manufacturing, distribution social media. It was certainly a learning curve. Who would be your ideal celebrity to wear Orbis? Two spring to mind firstly Cara Delevingne as she has a very youthful fresh playful image that fits perfectly with the brand and what we’re all about. The second would be The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. Meghan wears very tailored clean lines, her jewellery finishes off the outfit without taking centre stage so she’d be a perfect fit for us. Orbis Jewellery is like a cherry on top of the cake, it doesn’t detract from what you’re wearing it just finishes the look. Lastly what’s your star sign and are you typical of it? I’m a Taurus and yes, I’m pretty stubborn which I guess is a good thing when launching a new venture! Huge thank you to Gibran for taking the time to talk to us, and you can shop the Zodiac Glamour range here.
